About Raccoon Point Studios

Raccoon Point Studios is a full-service recording and production studio in Westover, Maryland, in Somerset County on the Eastern Shore. We record, mix, master, and shoot 4K music videos, and we work with everyone from first-time songwriters to touring bands across the Eastern Shore, Salisbury, and Ocean City. The studio is owned and run by engineer Sean Bombz and artist-manager Liana Fowler, a husband-and-wife team who have spent their careers on both sides of the glass. We're more than a room with microphones. Our mission is simple: help artists at every level make something they're proud of, and give them the tools and the room to do it. We think music can change a life, and we build our days around that one artist at a time.

The Studio

Everything here runs through real gear in real rooms. Our live room is modeled after the renowned drum room at Kajem Victory in Philadelphia, the studio where Liana got her start, so drums and full bands get a natural recorded space you can actually hear. The API 1608 console sits in its own control room, separate from the live room, which keeps tracking and monitoring clean the way a proper studio should work. Add analog outboard gear on hand, and you get records with a depth and warmth you can't fake with plugins. We opened our first studio in Philadelphia in 2015 and built the Westover studio in 2017. Since moving to the Eastern Shore full-time in 2019, we've grown the business into a YouTube channel, classes and workshops, and a blog for musicians, producers, and creatives.

Sean Bombz — Owner and Engineer

Sean Bombz is the owner and head engineer at Raccoon Point Studios. He has over 25 years of experience engineering and producing music, and he's worked in studios across the industry, building a name for the sounds he gets. He is a Grammy Nominee Contender (2022) for "Cloaking Skies," entered in Record of the Year for writing, mixing, and mastering, Best Rock Performance, and Best Metal Performance. He's a member of the AES, the Audio Engineering Society. Sean's been making things since he was a kid. As a teenager, he was already writing, performing, and recording, and over the years he's played in bands including Slouch, Spacejunk Planet, The Somerset Project, Big Crowd Popular, Leiana, and The One2s. He's a multi-instrumentalist on guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums, which means whether you're tracking a full band or overdubbing one part at a time, there's someone in the room who speaks your language. He's also a photographer and videographer; he shoots every day, and he handles all the photo and video work for the studio's YouTube and social channels. Off the console, he's the pedal guy who puts new gear through its paces on our YouTube channel.

Liana Fowler — Owner and Manager

Liana Fowler started out interning at the renowned Kajem Victory Recording Studio in Philadelphia. Wanting to do more than assist, she studied at NYU and the University of Pennsylvania, earned a degree in philosophy, then headed to the Musicians' Institute in Hollywood, where she sharpened her playing and joined a string of bands. Back in Philadelphia under the name Leiana, she released her first full-length, "Page," and its follow-up, "No Going Back," on her own label, Page Records, with producer, bandmate and co-writer Chuck Treece. For her major-label debut, "Lucky #3" on EMI, she brought in producer Eddie Wohl (Anthrax, Ill Niño, Fuel, Smile Empty Soul) and players like Rob Caggiano (Volbeat, Anthrax), Sean Danielson (Smile Empty Soul), Brett Scallions (Fuel), John Tempesta (White Zombie), and Ken Schalk (Candiria, Fuel). Her music took her on tour across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan. In 2014, she picked up bass and started a new band, The One2s, with her now-husband Sean Bombz. These days, Liana coaches artists at Cyber PR Music with Ariel Hyatt, working as an artist coach, digital auditor, and content creator. She holds a Master of Arts in Music Business from Berklee College of Music, and she's an adjunct professor at Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD, where she teaches marketing, copyright, and AI. Her forthcoming book, "The Music Entrepreneurship Book," was drawn from the course she teaches at Salisbury University. She's the person our artists lean on for the parts nobody teaches you: brand, messaging, and getting your music in front of people who'll care.

About the Raccoon

The raccoon on our logo isn't clip art. It was commissioned from Tony Squindo, the artist known for his Metallica artwork and for creating all of Leiana’s album covers. We wanted a mark with the same character as the studio, something with a story behind it, and we're proud of the one he made us.
